Serving the citizens of
Cascade County as one of
their three County Commissioners
has been my
honor and privilege for the past five years.
Today I am filing for re-election and ask
the voters of Cascade County to extend to
me the opportunity to continue to serve
them as a Commissioner.
Serving as a County Commissioner has
given me the chance to correct problems
and work to improve our quality of life.
Being one of your Commissioners is both
the most frustrating and rewarding position
I have ever held and I thank you for
the chance to have served you.
As I look back over the past five years I
am pleased with the progress we have
made in streamlining county government,
the cost control we have put in place and
the major issues we have been able to address.
I am also very pleased with the
growing teamwork exhibited by the employees
of Cascade County. None of accomplishments
of the past few years could
have occurred without the hard work and
dedication of our employees.
I am however also mindful of the work
yet to come. Budgets are tight for us all,
not only in our homes, but in our businesses
and government as well. Just as we
each have to make difficult decisions in
our own household spending so must government
be looking carefully at every expenditure.
Cascade County and its employees have
done a remarkable job in recent years at
stretching your tax dollars, but we must
do even more to make sure we can continue
to provide the services our citizens
need during these difficult times. We must
also not lose sight of the need to prepare
for our future. The long term solution for
many of our local problems is to create an
environment which provides better paying
jobs for our citizens.
Joe Briggs,
Candidate Cascade County Commissioner |

As a Cascade County resident, I filed for the position
of Sheriff for a couple important reasons. The
first is that I have dedicated the last 28 years of my
life serving my country as a member of the Armed
Forces and 20 years to public service as a law enforcement
professional and feel the need to serve is
an important one. The second is that prevailing attitudes
appear to be that of seeing only what cannot
be, rather than seeing what can be. The most important reason I filed for
Sheriff is that I can make a difference.
Having led soldiers in combat I understand the importance of establishing
clear goals, communication, teamwork, compassion and leading from
the front. I carried these same traits with me throughout my years as both
an officer and Sergeant with the Great Falls Police Department.
As the Professional Programs Manager at the Law Enforcement Academy
I have not only taught ethics, community policing and other important
subjects, I have had the opportunity to engage in conversations regarding
policy, use of force, and other issues important to law enforcement.
Having been a Corrections Officer, I also understand what it takes
to spend your days supervising offenders.
I will bring business sense, teamwork and creativity in public service to
the office of Sheriff. By training, resourcing and providing clear guidance
to employees at all levels together we will achieve organizational objectives.
By empowering those same employees to be creative problem
solvers and stakeholders we will take the Sheriff’s office to the next level
together. We will work diligently to not only meet the public safety expectations
of our customers, the residents of Cascade County, but to be
one of the leaders in County government that is here to serve you. We
might even have some fun along the way.
Every active voter is a shareholder in the government offices that exist
to uphold their constitutional rights, services and privileges as tax payers
and citizens. Every election is an opportunity for voters to hold impromptu
shareholder meetings in homes, at work or social settings to discuss
the issues of the day. Among those important issues is whether or
not the people they have entrusted with their votes have given an adequate
return for that investment.

During the 2009
legislative session,
I served on the
House Taxation,
Natural Resources
and Agricultural Committees. During
the first forty-five days, I made several
rookie mistakes which fortunately went
unnoticed. By day forty-six, I was
knowledgeable, confident and a reasonably
competent legislator. In House
Tax, we stopped all proposed tax increases
but failed to eliminate the Business
Equipment Tax. In Natural Resources,
Representative Mike Milburn,
as chairman, did a masterful job of developing
open cut mining legislation
(gravel pits) that industry, consumers
and the DNRC found acceptable.
I ran for the legislature in 2006 and
2008 and am running in 2010 because I
want to participate in the decisions effecting
future generations of Montanan’s.
Free enterprise, entrepreneurship,
rule of law, property rights, competition,
equal opportunity and the desire
for self improvement are the principles
and motivator which created our
standard of living and made the U.S. the
most powerful and benevolent country
in the world. While taxes, regulations
and governments are necessary, they
must be supportive of a vibrant economy
and economic growth; not an anchor
holding back investment and business
development.
As a Representative to the Montana
Legislature, I will support activities
which encourage business activity while
safe guarding the environment and the
well being of all Montanans.

Rick Tryon has
filed as a candidate
for the State legislature
in House
District 25. Known
as a fiscally conservative, independent
thinking, working class
Republican, Tryon is focusing his
attention on three major areas in
his campaign for the Legislature:
1. Good jobs for working class
Montanans, 2.Expanded opportunity
for small business and entrepreneurs,
3.Open, honest, accountable
state government.
“We need to create a better jobs
and business climate in this state
that says, ‘We’re open for business,
especially responsible energy
development.’ Let’s get to work
creating this climate by reducing
taxes and easing up on government
red tape. The only jobs that government
‘creates’ are government
jobs. I think that, in many cases,
government needs to get out of the
way and let the private sector and
entrepreneurs create jobs and economic
opportunity,” says Tryon.
Rick has been a leading conservative
voice in local economic issues.
He was founder and spokesman for
“Citizens for Responsible City
Government” during the city’s
Lewis and Clark Bicentennial
events, opposing excessive spending.
Most recently he was the leading
opponent to the proposed
safety levy tax increase.
Rick is a computer specialist, musician,
and entrepreneur who also
works part-time for Stray Moose
Productions in Black Eagle. Along
with his wife, Phyllis, he has lived,
worked, and volunteered in Great
Falls for over 27 years.

I am committed to
building a more prosperous
Montana and
protecting the western
heritage we deeply
cherish. We live in a beautiful state
made up of proud, hard working, independent
people. It’s been an honor
to serve them.
The founding principals of our nation
are being challenged. The assault
on property rights has become commonplace.
Over-spending, overborrowing,
and over-regulating are
breaking our country. We need to return
to a limited government that
practices fiscal discipline, promotes
individual freedoms and liberties, and
rewards hard work. Pro-market solutions
support innovation and create
private enterprise jobs.
We must diversify by responsibly
using our vast natural resources to help pay for our schools and other
commitments. Putting money back
into the hands of the people rather
than the government and getting back
to creating prosperity rather than trying
to redistribute it will achieve our
economic goals and put Montanans
back to work.

I work at being a problem
solver and consensus
builder and
towards br inging
about what is best for
all Montanans. We
have to pay our bills and not spend
more money than we have. There are
many times we just have to say
no. Government involvement is too
often part of the problem instead of the
solution.
My votes have reflected my philosophy
of encouraging strong families, effective
schools, strong communities and a
thriving business atmosphere that is not
sued, taxed, or regulated unjustly. Often
our kids get a quality education and
then have to leave our state to make a
decent living to support a family. We
need to have good paying jobs available.
Too often we export our greatest
resource to other states - OUR
CHILDREN! I have and will continue
to work hard to change that .

Cleve believes in a common sense
approach to issues, as a professional
in the real estate business for over
years, he understands you have to
close the deal. He believes that no
one knows all the answers, but as a
thinking person will re-evaluate his
position on issues as information
changes. Cleve has always worked for the interests of his
clients and as a Representative will work hard for his constituents.
He is willing to listen and to help solve the problems.
House District 25 for Common Sense Conservatism.
Cleve will work for:
• Constitutionally limited government
• Fiscal responsibility/accountability
• Private property Rights
• Personal responsibility
• Free market/lower taxes
• Education/jobs in Montana
I have been active in numerous civic and national organizations
and have held leadership positions in many of
them. Cleve Loney, Candidate HD 25 |

I am excited to announce
my candidacy
for the Montana Legislature.
I am running for the Montana
Legislature because I want to
make Montana the best place to
live, start a business, and raise a
family. I became an attorney because
I have a strong interest in
public policy and public service. I
know that through hard work and
commitment one person can make a
difference in our system of government.
If elected, I am committed to ensuring
the responsible use of taxpayer
resources and to improving economic
opportunities for all Montanans.
I believe the Montana Legislature
has a responsibility to be a
good steward of public resources.
We should only spend taxpayer
money for services we actually need
and never tolerate any waste, fraud,
or abuse in any fiscal matters.
To create good paying jobs, we
need to implement policies to attract
new businesses and investment.
The Legislature should look for
ways to lower taxes and to eliminate
red tape and frivolous lawsuits. In
addition, we must ensure all Montanans
have access to quality education.
Our colleges and universities
must be affordable and address current
job opportunities and workplace
needs.
I believe the most important trait of
a good Legislator is the willingness
to listen and to consider all points of
view. No person has a monopoly
on good ideas. The best way to
guarantee we implement the right
policies is to listen to everyone and
to consider all points of view. I am
looking forward to getting out and
meeting the residents of House District
20 and learning about the issues
that matter to them.
